November 2, 2020 (MORRISTOWN, NJ) – CoWorx Staffing Services is meeting a year of unprecedented challenge with unprecedented caring, and proudly announces a nationwide food drive for the month of November, supporting its field talent and their communities.
Many of the staffing agency’s field offices have always provided snacks and small food items to field talent, and hearing that some started their own food pantries to care for their communities, CoWorx decided to grow the initiative and promote a companywide Thanksgiving Food Pantry during the month of November. Employees were encouraged to start collecting non-perishable food items in October, and CoWorx is promoting the Food Pantry throughout its 60 field offices using #CoWorxCares and #payitforward hashtags.
Field employees nationwide are being alerted to the Food Pantry today; one such message reads: “We understand the stresses many of you endured during the year – uncertainties surrounding childcare, transitions to virtual learning, taking public transportation to work, and of course concerns about the health and well-being of you and your family. During this season of giving we just want to say ‘Thank You’ for everything you do. Hoping this small gesture makes your life a little easier. If you have any friends or family who need support, please pay it forward and let them about know about our food pantry and the job opportunities at CoWorx. We care deeply about our communities and are here for anyone who needs a little extra support right now.”
“This is the right thing to do,” said CoWorx Staffing Services CEO Tim Hartnett. “This year has been especially challenging for many families, and we know many field talent live paycheck to paycheck to cover life’s most basic necessities.”
“Our offices often go above and beyond supporting our field talent throughout the year, including back-to-school giveaways and providing hats and gloves in the winter,” says Harnett. “Our empathy for our employees is part of everything we do.”
CoWorx has adapted new methods of conducting business this year, including job fairs that are virtual, drive-thru, or held outside to allow social distancing. The company has instituted a mobile-based application and onboarding process, allowing workers to apply on their smart phones. Virtual interviews are scheduled when possible to limit office traffic, and enhanced safety precautions are now standard protocol at
CoWorx field offices, each following all precautions employing facilities are taking, from mandatory masks to daily temperature checks.
CoWorx currently has thousands of jobs available nationwide for those who need to work. In many cases, people can interview today and be at work as early as tomorrow. Additionally, many positions do not require any experience.
“Attracting and retaining talent is more difficult than ever,” says Kara Rogan, CoWorx Vice President, Sales & Operations East Region. “While there may be increased unemployment numbers, the demand in certain sectors is higher than ever, which is putting tremendous wage pressure on U.S. employers.”
“While the hourly rate is a motivator for employees, our focus has been to partner with our customers in providing safe work environments where people are valued,” Rogan continues. “Getting out into the communities we serve, and communicating with our workforce about COVID and the protective measures in place has been crucial.”
CoWorx reports that logistics and e-commerce have been very busy staffing sectors this year. And, the increasing demand for talent to be able to work from home has been among the greatest challenges.
“When possible, we have worked with our customers to offer flexibility in their standard work schedules to allow our talent to remain on assignment, while still meeting the needs of their families,” reports Rogan.
